At Berghotel Presslauer in Carinthia\u2019s Gail Valley, several numbered trails start right at the hotel. From Jenig and Rattendorf you can climb to the Rattendorfer Alm and the Hochwipfel (2,195 m), and according to the hotel there are more than 1,000 km of marked trails in the area. On the alpine pastures you can taste Gailtal Almk\u00e4se cheese and speck, and in June the Wulfenia flowers on the Gartnerkofel. In the evening half board and three saunas are waiting. Where should you stay for a week of day hikes in the Carnic Alps in June?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For a week of day hikes in the Carnic Alps around Nassfeld in June, Berghotel Presslauer in the Gail Valley offers trails that start at the hotel and half board in the evening. In early summer 2027, from 14 May to 30 June 2027, a room costs from \u20ac66 per person per night with breakfast and from \u20ac82 with half board. In June, according to nassfeld.at, the Wulfenia flowers on the Gartnerkofel, a strictly protected ice-age plant that in this form grows nowhere else in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the Nassfeld Pass the Wulfenia is about 30 minutes on foot. In summer 2026 the Gartnerkofelbahn ran from 13 June to 20 September, and nassfeld.at publishes the dates for 2027.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

For a hiking week in mid-September on the Austrian side of the Carnic Alps, Berghotel Presslauer offers trails that start at the hotel and home cooking in the evening, with beef, speck and vegetables from the family\u2019s own production. The hotel is open in mid-September, because the summer season lasts until the first weekend in October. In reviews, guests praise the peace and quiet and the food. The Carnic High Trail, in German Karnischer H\u00f6henweg (trail 403, also called the Peace Trail), runs from Sillian to Th\u00f6rl-Maglern and is between 130 and 155 km long, depending on the source. From Berghotel Presslauer in the Gail Valley you can walk some sections as day hikes and return to the hotel in the evening. Which sections, with which access and in how much time you can discuss with your hosts before you arrive, because the hotel does not publish its own stages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes. For hiking in Carinthia with children, Berghotel Presslauer describes the Gartnerkofel as a family mountain, and one of its route categories is family-friendly hikes. Near Hermagor the Garnitzenklamm gorge is 4.5 km long, according to kaernten.at. Off trail 6, which starts near the hotel, short paths lead in about 5 minutes each to a viewpoint and to the M\u00e4rchenwiese meadow.
